All former rawc wrestlers are welcome, We had someone take a large amount of
money from the fundraising tournament held at Shasta College, this will put
Freestyle State at the end of the month, club money to travel and hotels currently off.
Jet is doing a clean the inventory of RAWC tee shirts to try to raise the money for
kids wishing to go to State; therefore, all styles of RAWC shirts will be at the
Banquet on Monday for sale, even if you have a shirt, if you could pick up another one
this will help, if you have a friend - buy one for a friend, grandma, grandpa or even
as a Christmas gift for someone you dont like, I dont want the season to end for kids
skilled enough to attempt the State Level Tournament.
All donations welcome, we need to raise approximately $500 - $1,000 to cover cost.

NAWA Championship Results
This Saturday at Shasta College the North Area Wrestling Association Championships were held for both Freestyle and Greco-Roman. With over thirty five teams from the North State and Oregon, the local Redding Amateur Wrestling Club (RAWC) won the tournament with 62 points followed by the Punishers from Clear Lake with 43 points. Club West of Eagle Point, Oregon was third with 41 points. The top ten were as follows: RAWC-62 pts. Punisher (Clear Lake)-43 pts. Club West (Eagle Point)-41 pts. Prodigy(Corning)-36 pts. Foothill-35 pts. Fortuna-24 pts. Eureka-22 pts. Red Bluff-21 pts. Ridge (Paradise)-21 pts. Anderson Attack-20 pts. It was a good turn out with over 280 wrestlers competing in both styles.

We Still need sponsors for the championships, any donations will help, thanks in advance, any business wanting to place an advertisement on the web for a donation, contact Coach Kevin or Coach Jet The Championships are both Frestyle & Greco, All Age divisions and Open to everyone, last year was some of the toughest competition we have had, Teams from Oregon & Navada, REWA (Redwood Empire) & SAWA (Sacramento Area) were in attendence. All welcome and remember - bring your best game.

We Rawc'd at Greco State
Redding Amateur Wrestling Club are finally back from our sojourn to Fresno. All of the wrestlers we brought down for the California Greco Kid's State and Junior FILA Greco as well as the Girl's Cadet Freestyle State and the Junior Girl's Freestyle State did very well and we brought back eight state medals. Joseph Holcomb took second place at 132 lbs. in Junior FILA Greco and placed 5th in Junior FILA Freestyle. Dorothy Amtsberg was second in Girl's Cadet Freestyle at 154 lbs. Amanda Britt garnered a 3rd place finish at 198 lbs. in Junior Girl's Freestyle In the Kid's Greco State Championship, Joseph Kern who wrestles for the Shasta Lake Wrestling club as well as RAWC, won his final match to finish 5th in the Bantam division at 55 lbs. Connor Dillman was 4th at 60 lbs. in Bantam Zavier Jordan was 2nd at 80 lbs. in the Intermediate division. Josiah Torculas won his final match to take 5th at 80 lbs. in the Intermediate division. A special note on Joseph Holcomb who is wrestling for RAWC presently but has also just completed his first season for Shasta College. Joseph beat the number one seed Matthew Enrique of the Tulare Titans in the semi finals to advance to the finals and wrestled a tough match there losing to Damien Escalara-Salaza who is the reigning Mexican National Champion. Joseph will be our wrestler of the week.

The fifth Tournament of the season in Palo Cedro (Foothill High) went as expected, another excellent tournament, Great job Coach Dan Lakmann, Our team wrestled well with improvement everywhere. Las Plumas High School Tournament Update
Fourth Tournament of the season in Las Plumas was a success, excellent tournament, Great job Butch Hindman, Our team wrestled well with improvement everywhere. Orland Tournament Update
Second Tournament of the season in Orland went as expected, another excellent tournament, Great job Victor Perry, Coach Jet indicated photos, I will get the tournament photographs up as soon I received them. Congradulations Team Oregon 2013 & 2012 Dual Champs
California, Oregon & Washington Dual
The 9th Annual OrCA dual was March 9th at Shasta College this year,
it was wrestling excellence and went to the last match to determine a Champion.
This was the highest placing senior from each state which could attend, wrestlers
from all over the West Coast; prior defending Champion was "Team Washington" in 2011.

Practice Tuesday & Thurday Night's 6 pm
Shasta High School Wrestling Rm 6 pm, Our practice nights are Tuesdays and Thursdays. Wrestlers between the ages of 5 and 12 start at 6pm, and the older kids start at 7pm. Both age groups will practice for approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. We practice in the Shasta High School wrestling room behind the main gym. Wrestlers Need for practice: Tee Shirts, Shorts - No buttons or zippers, head gear (required), wrestling shoes Also "Coach James" has the Central Valley High School wrestling room open on Monday & Wednesday's for extra practice starting at 5:30 pm running for 1 to 1.5 hours.

With some arm twisting, Coach Jet will be returning this next year and help the club again, Coach Jet has forgotten more about wrestling than I have learn yet; thus he is a great asset to the Club and if anyone has a chain we might be able to tie him to the wrestling room and never let him go. On a low note: Long Time Wrestling Coach, Referee, and Mentor Joe Rios passed away November 2012 Coach Rios was a long time staple in the wrestling community out of the Chico area, anyone who has wrestled within the past 10 to 15 years, even if you did not know Joe, you have seen him somewhere in the large gym at Chico, PV, Shasta College, Red Bluff, and or your local high school. Coach Rios, you were loved and will be missed, thank you for all your years of priceless work for the community, kids, wrestlers, family, and friends.

So when are the practices? - Practices start in March 7th, 2013
Our practice nights are Tuesdays and Thursdays. Wrestlers between the ages of 5 and 12 start at 6pm, and the older kids start at 7pm. Both age groups will practice for approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. We practice in the Shasta High School wrestling room behind the main gym.
Open practice for Rawc Wrestlers at Central Valley High School wrestling room on Monday & Wednesday nights, 5:30 pm. Contact Coach James.
